Artistic Partner Mei-Ann Chen leads the Sinfonietta in an exploration of one of music’s most enduring mysteries: the true identity of Beethoven’s “Immortal Beloved.” This new violin concerto composed by Nancy Ives for Concertmaster Denise Dillenbeck, offers a portrait of the phenomenal women who surface as possibilities. Featuring Ives' "many-splendored... melodic and compelling" style (Oregon ArtsWatch), and showcasing expressive and virtuosic passages for solo violin, the piece is an egalitarian tool carrying female voices nearly lost to history into the present with timeless relevance. Beethoven’s Triple Concerto for violin, cello and piano featuring the Puget Sound Piano Trio closes the program.
